Accessibility Statement

Last updated

Rest Assured Homes is committed to making our website usable by as many people as possible, whatever their ability or the technology they use. This statement explains how accessible the website is, what we are doing to improve it, and how to tell us about a problem.

Our standard

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. We build with standard Bootstrap components and semantic HTML, and we test with automated tools and keyboard-only use.

What we have done

  • A "Skip to main content" link appears first on every page when you press the Tab key.
  • Pages use clear landmarks (header, navigation, main content, footer) and a logical order of headings.
  • Every form field has a visible label, and error and success messages are announced to screen readers.
  • The whole site can be used with a keyboard, and the element you are on is always clearly highlighted.
  • Dialog boxes trap focus while open, close with the Escape key, and return you to where you were.
  • Text and controls meet the minimum colour-contrast ratios, and the text can be enlarged to 200% without losing content or function.
  • The layout adapts to phones, tablets and desktops, and does not require horizontal scrolling for normal content.
  • Charts have a text alternative: a table of the same figures sits beneath every chart.
  • Moving elements and animations stop if your device is set to "reduce motion".
  • The FAQ uses expandable sections that work with a keyboard and screen readers.

Known limitations

  • Photos uploaded by sellers do not have descriptions written by the seller, so they are labelled generically.
  • Some pages are hosted by our providers (for example the secure payment pages of Stripe) and are governed by their own accessibility work.
  • The chat with Amelia is a live conversation. If you find it hard to use, you can instead use the forms on our site or contact us and we will help you directly.

Tell us about a problem

If you cannot use part of the website, or you would like information in a different format, please contact us and we will do our best to help and to fix the issue. We aim to reply within five working days.
